Do u believe in Rebirth ?

We all know about Rebirth It's a central tenet in religions especially like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikkhism where the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth is seen as ongoing. The nature of the next life is often believed to be influenced by karma, the actions and deeds of previous lives. This present article is however just collection of different alleged Reincarnation cases along with some views of great personalities about Rebirth. I hope you will enjoy reading this article and if you like it do share & don't forget to share your views as well.

The Science of Reincarnation:-

Let me quote Wikipedia along with proper citation for the reincarnation claims of Shanti Devi:-

The case was brought to the attention of Mahatma Gandhi who set up a commission to investigate. The commission traveled with Shanti Devi to Mathura, arriving on 15 November 1935. There she recognized several family members, including the grandfather of Lugdi Devi. She found out that Kedar Nath had neglected to keep a number of promises he had made to Lugdi Devi on her deathbed. She then travelled home with her parents. The commission's report, published in 1936, concluded that Shanti Devi was indeed the reincarnation of Lugdi Devi.

However two further reports were written at the time. The report by Bal Chand Nahata was published as a Hindi booklet by the name Punarjanma Ki Paryalochana. In this, he stated that "Whatever material that has come before us, does not warrant us to conclude that Shanti Devi has former life recollections or that this case proves reincarnation".

This argument of Bal Chand Nahata was disputed by Indra Sen, a devotee of Sri Aurobindo, in an article later.

Now come to recent modern studies :-

Dr Jim Tucker, Professor of Psychiatry at the UVA Medical Center has studied 2500+ cases of children aged 2-6 who could remember details that they possibly couldn’t know & that connected back to the life of an actual person. Most of the children had above average IQs & no mental or emotional disorders. None had family trauma. They came from different backgrounds & religions.

20% have birthmarks that match marks or injuries the person whose life the child recalls received near his or her death.

Dr Tucker has ruled out financial fraud for fame as many times the parents don’t even want their children to be interviewed. The children have intense emotional attachment to these memories & vividly remember things like past family members or places they lived.

If you read the full article, he gives an example of a preschool kid named Ryan who remembered details of the life of an unknown small time artist who died 80 years ago. The kid knew things which were only known to the immediate family members of the man who had died.

Another case of the reincarnation type. I don't know if it was systematically investigated in the manner of Ian Stevenson & his co-workers who found numerous such cases.

Another The most documented case of reincarnation in 1957: Twin sisters die in a tragic accident. 1 year later, they're reborn with:

- identical marks
- shared memories
- past family recognition

It started with a tragedy in Hexham, England.

On May 5, 1957, Joanna (11) and Jacqueline Pollock (6) were walking to church.A speeding car hit them. Both sisters died instantly. The Pollock family was devastated.

But what happened next is where it gets strange. A year after the accident, their mother gave birth to twins:-Jennifer and Gillian.

From the moment they could talk, the twins displayed behaviors that defied explanation.

Jennifer had a birthmark on her waist. The same birthmark Jacqueline had. She also had a mark on her forehead, identical to one Jacqueline got from a fall as a toddler.

Coincidence?
It gets weirder.

The twins began asking for toys they had never seen before. Except they weren’t random toys. They were Joanna and Jacqueline’s toys—toys that had been boxed away after the accident. They knew every detail.

At 4 years old, their parents took them to Hexham. The twins pointed out landmarks they had never visited.Including the school their sisters attended and the playground they played in. They described them perfectly.

The twins also had an unexplainable fear of cars. Every time they saw one speeding, they panicked. Screaming, "The car! It's coming to get us!"
They had never been in an accident. But their fear was visceral.

Dr. Ian Stevenson, a renowned psychologist, studied the case.

He was an expert in reincarnation studies. After years of research, he concluded:-
The twins’ memories couldn’t be explained by genetics or environmental factors.

Views of great Personalities:-

Maa Sarada:-

"As long as a man has desires, there is no end to his transmigration. It is the desires alone that make him take one body after another. There will be rebirth for a man if he has even the desire to eat a piece of sweetmeat.

Desire maybe compared to a minute seed. It is like a big banyan tree growing out of a seed, which is no bigger than a dot. Rebirth is inevitable so long as one has desires.

It is like taking the soul from one pillowcase and putting it into another; only one or two out of many men can be found who are free from all desires."

Source:-  Gospel of The Holy Mother (page 217).

The Buddha clearly did believe in rebirth & in the role of accumulated Karma determining your future rebirth.

The quoted excerpts are from the authoritative Journal of the International Association of Buddhist Studies (Vol. 9, No. 1, 1986)

Swami Vivekananda about hell, heaven, afterlife and rebirth:-

"Salvation means knowing the truth. We do not become anything; we are what we are. Salvation [comes] by faith and not by work. It is a question of knowledge! You must know what you are, and it is done. The dream vanishes. This you [and others] are dreaming here. When they die, they go to [the] heaven [of their dream]. They live in that dream, and [when it ends], they take a nice body [here], and they are good people…."

Conclusion:- Rebirth is not an established scientific fact, Still yet, but a debatable issue in the field of science, some scientists are in favour & some were critics. However the enormous cases of alleged rebirth shows that it needs continuous investigation for further clarity in future.
